Lady of the Pine

(john swayne)

When a storm shook the mountain
And a chill laid her to rest
I tried to run, but could not leave her
So I braved the loneliness

Now in springtime, I hear her laughter
In the rustlin’ of the aspen leaves
Here I’ll stay up on the mountain
Where she watches over me

With her hair draped ’round the sunset
How bright that ol’ west sky now shines
And her song rings through the canyon
My lovely Lady of the Pine

They say the Rockies beckon angels
And the Rockies must’ve called her home
To be part of the mighty kingdom
High a’top the snow capped throne

With her hair draped ’round the sunset
How bright that ol’ west sky now shines
And her song rings through the canyon
My lovely Lady of the Pine
